The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA), otherwise known as the Stimulus Package, contains provisions expanding some of the existing Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) privacy requirements.

To accommodate one such provision, UniCare associates will now verify fax numbers each time prior to faxing documents containing Protected Health Information (PHI). PHI will be removed from the fax document. However, if you contact Provider Services and verify your fax number, no verification of each fax sent to you will be required, nor will PHI be removed from the document for a period of one year.

EAP asks that you notify Provider Services immediately when you have any changes in address, telephone or fax numbers. To verify your current information on file, send an email message to EAPProviderNetworks@Anthem.com. Please include your first and last name, licensure, current fax number, as well as your mailing and practice addresses so that we may cross reference.
